Sunrise coach tour · Ayers Rock Resort, Yulara
This two-hour coach tour from Yulara takes you through the Field of Light in the dark, then up to a private dune to watch the sun rise over Uluru with tea, coffee or hot chocolate. It does not go to Coober Pedy, but it is the easiest add-on at the far end of the 7-day tours that do.

This tour is at Uluru, not in Coober Pedy, which is about 750 km to the south. It is here because the northbound 7-day trips finish at Yulara, and the southbound ones start there, so a free morning at the resort is the natural time to book it. The listing comes from AAT Kings, with transfers from your Yulara hotel included.
The Field of Light is an installation by the light artist Bruce Munro: 50,000 solar-powered stems topped with frosted glass spheres, spread over an area the size of about seven football fields. It opened in April 2016 as a temporary show, and in 2026 Ayers Rock Resort extended it to at least the end of 2029, per National Indigenous Times. You leave Yulara in the dark (AAT Kings says about 1 hour 45 minutes before sunrise), hear the story of the art from your guide, and walk the paths through the lights. Then you climb to the Dune Top viewing area with a hot drink as the sun rises behind Uluru and Kata Tjuta catches the light behind you.
It is short, easy and very well reviewed: 4.6 from 686 guests. Breakfast is not included, so eat when you get back. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before lets you hold a morning while your tour dates settle.
Pickup at your Ayers Rock Resort hotel about 1 hour 45 minutes before sunrise, per AAT Kings, and a short drive to a private dune.
Your guide explains how the installation was made, then you wander the paths through 50,000 glowing spheres.
Up the hill to the viewing area for tea, coffee or hot chocolate as the desert wakes up.
The sun comes up behind Uluru, Kata Tjuta lights up behind you, and the Field of Light fades for the day. Time for photos.
The coach returns you to your hotel in time for breakfast, which is not included.
